When you shop for store fixtures today as a small retailer your choices are similar to car buyers back in Henry Fords day-all available in many shades of black-all fixtures today hail from China in all shades of chrome.No matter where you shop display companies seem to buy from the same factory.If there is nothing else to choose from the nearest guy will do or the one that delivers or the fellow who takes visa payment will be where you shop.What you buy must enhance the environment your will work in daily and hopefully profit from and if the interior of your store is DULL,so will the results be.Selling and acquiring used retail displays is never easy and nothing comes in a box.We need twice as much space to handle what comes our way but the goods are so interesting and colourful and unique that selling them to those that appreciate their design is the reward.Recently we were told to pick up this table used for the Olympics display last year and if not it would be in the garbage by Friday.We travelled through a snowstorm today to pick it up and feature it tonight here-looks better than in a dumpster and it will look even better when it is in your store selling inventory.This happens too often and the next time you wander through our 40,000 sq ft blue box remember all that is in there could have been in the dumpster and the millions worth we have sold in 38 years.That is why when you enter Bruno is barking with excitement to announce your arrival.Hope to see you soon and the snow is plowed in our lot

During the seventies I was studying to be a Civil engineer but that was interupted by the election of a new mayor who put a halt to most new construction projects so I looked for another career.During dinner one evening I met a man who had invented a new type of garment hanger and I went to work for him the next day.He had a good product but customers wanted other supplies so soon I built a display company around his hanger.When we parted ways I continued and started selling used displays also and the rest is history 38 years later.Recently my mother told me more about my grandfather pictured here.They grew up in the junction and my grandfather was the engineer on the railroad.He was hard working and always eager to take as many trains as he could across Canada with one exception.He would never take a train with people on it-did not want to be responsible if there was an accident.So while by calling myself all these years an Inventory Engineer,it is my grandfather who blazed that trail moving inventory across this country.Speaking of inventory we have a 40,000 sq ft warehouse full of great recycled displays and we will load them into your vehicle or ship them to you.The Montreal store is bursting with great deals as many of our competitors in Montreal will agree

Mannequins are increasingly being used by all types of business to grab customers attention but many still feel that they are overpriced.The forms pictured here are cheap but work well in quantities at flea markets or volume discounters and are priced at $17.50 each.Some will say they can be bought for less but you only receive wht you pay for.When they break too soon remember where you saw them on our site for we sell these as quality items in their price range but not on price alone.They are available in many sizes and colours in male female and children.For a long time the pimp was reluctant to sell these as he felt his mannequin sales would suffer but sales of manequins have doubled as he continues to stock EVERY type of mannequin and form available today. Business has been tough lately and we all need to work hard and stick together.Truckloads of recycled displays are arriving daily and the mannequin pimp thinks he is Wal Mart and constantly lowers prices related to supply and demand.We are Pucci mannequins from New York and cost a lot more than the $199.00 we are being sold for.We are thankful though that we are not priced like the headless mannequins he is giving away for $99.00/ea.We would love to go to a beach store and we see many of those retailers in the showroom lately.Imagine us in a little sundress and sandals.See you soon

WE ARE BLUE BUT WE ARE HAPPY

Spring has a strange effect on many things and mannequins are influenced as well.We come with articulated arms and as you can see the mannequin pimp has put us in a provocative position to demonstrate our flexibility.Our limbs can also be employed to hold the products you need to sell and we can do this uniquely as most mannequins come with their arms in set positions.There are about 50 of us in this warehouse and we are anxious to leave and maybe relocate to a beach store--we look cool as water so come in Mon-Fri and pay $300/each for us.Weekends are closed for the summer so the pimp can take some time off travelling around Ontario.Have a great summer

NEW MANNEQUIN POSITIONS TO GET SALES

Recently the papers tell of home sellers burying statues of Joseph and praying for a buyer for their homes.We as mannequins do not like the burial idea and because we like to show off in display windows we got down on our knees and will pray directly in your store windows for customers.Put all inventory back to full price and let us pray for a clearance.In keeping with the policy at our store all of us are discounted and the praying girls are $200 each but quantities are limited! Not all of our inventory are prepared to get down on their knees--they feel that they have other attributes.We hope to see you soon and we can even be rented out for weekend sales but please--no flea markets!!

My name is Jamie and I was made in Belgium as a youth for better department stores.When Eatons closed I became part of a collectors posse of special mannequins.Then my owner moved to a condo and I was traded to the pimp who is sending me to Kinmount Ontario.He has a customer who has a museum of cinema beside his movie theatres in cottage country and uses 120 mannequins in period dress to depict the different styles and trends decade by decade with film as the influence.I am chosen because of my small size for people at the turn of the century were smaller so this makes me special.Thats fine with me but I heard that when the theatre opens popcorn is made attracting bears up to the front door with the smell.I hope I am displayed far from the concession stand or if the films are good I will go watch instead.See you soon at Highland Cinemas

The Blue Jays are winning and that keeps the boss away from us so we can play in peace.With a game almost nightly he hasnt stayed late in weeks .Today several interesting calls came in .A former mannequin manufacturer was locked out for non-payment and tomorrow we will see what can be salvaged from a company that would not change with customers needs.China is blamed but the truth is this fellow was in business for decades and did not listen to what customers needed so he is history and the pimp will recycle all that is valuable to add to the unique inventory massed within.Today he dismantled a cosmetics store in Yorkville and will soon be ripping apart a grocery-pharmacy outlet.Retail is evolving daily and all who participate must be flexible and adaptable or be recycled.The mannequin pictured here has been sold and returned three times and is one of the pimps favourite.Yours for $350.

If they no longer come to the mountain Keith will meet his customers at the highway.The snow is just a series of muddy puddles at Mt. Some say being clear is just a novelty but it got our brother sold to the Circa nightclub downtown.Instead of working in a boutique he will be exposed to all the latest fashions worn by hot dancers.We know that our showroom is hot and stuffed with more mannequins than you will see anywhere but Circa has a great collection of figures too and the music is better than the warm jazz played here.Check out our old friends at Circa and then come up here and start your own collection.Just before we closed a collector of Star Wars costumes came in for a new male mannequin@$150.He saved enough to indulge more into his hobby and perhaps buy a few more costumes

RETIREMENT IN ST. CATHERINES W/A LEXUS

Originally we were all conceived to work in retail environments but we are being employed in diverse locations as more people become aware of the powerful use of mannequins and 3D forms.We look bored here but are being shipped to sleepy St. Catherines to showcases clothing related to Lexus vehicles.It seems quiet down here but rumblings from nearby and lots of dust suggest the highway outside is being widen so more customers can come and buy the new Green vehicles being marketed by Lexus..First we are recycled from a retail store and now we are displayed beside these great new cars made to help reduce our need for fossil fuels.Now if they could reduce the dust outside we can enjoy our new home.The money saved to buy us at a discount enabled Performance Lexus to buy all 3 of us and 3 females to keep us company.When no one is looking we are going for a hike at Balls Falls

Often we find the second use for something recycled is more noble than what we were originally made for.We used to work in retail windows for a large retailer with stores across Canada and sold a lot of clothing.Then the pimp bought us but with so much inventory he is giving us away for $99 plus a base.Today Lucy Stein came to the showroom with the most unusual request yet. A good contest for the future would be to find someone who can top her request for one of us.Lucy has a thesis project at OCAD Industrial Design to display a product that prevents the transmission of HIV from mother to child through breastmilk by neutralizing the virus.Without pause she purchased one of us for a price she could afford.After she graduates she will have a new friend and to think all the form did was sell swimwear before this.What purpose can you come up with for there are at least 20 more of us available.

The warehouse has been busy this week with new retailers coming in to get new counters and showcases to open their shops but most have bypassed our showroom to focus on the interior furnishings and fittings.It is important to have a good retail environment but without something appealing like us in the windows who will come in to shop the store.We will not be ignored so as you can see while you look at the tables and showcases in the warehouse many of us have inserted ourselves there to remind you to get some forms too.This week we have received the contents of a gift shop with antique counters and renovated two jewelery stores.The pimp sold 4 showcases to an automotive store in Markham but even they should get forms for racing gear.There is news that a new shipment of mannequins is arriving soon and we are anxious to make new friends.The bust forms in the showcases are $19each

LINGERIE MODELS FOR HIKERS

There must be a problem.One minute we are showing Lingerie in Montreal and now this "mannequin pimp" has traded us to Wild Rock Outfitters in PETERBOROUGH for a few old pieces of steel racking.Last week we were speaking French in La Belle Province and now we are enticing campers with what to wear in the woods when your are not laying on the ground or kneeling in a canoe.Great care was taken in making us.Notice there is no crease in the middle of my torso so that you can see the lingerie on us without distractions.Now all that will be covered up with camelbak apparatus and nylon ropes.Do they speak French in Peterborough?

We hear on the showroom radio that tomorrow is Earth Day.People will turn off lights and momentarily think about how the world is changing and then return to their bad habits.For 35 years the Mannequin Pimp has recycled retailers used and unwanted displays and resold them to new retailers opening their first store.Often the savings have meant the retailer could afford their new dream and have continued to prosper for years.after 35 years of our clients patronage Toronto has a bigger park rather than a bigger dump.I am the male in this picture and was bought before a retiring golf retailer was going to pitch me in the dumpster.There are few examples of me from the 50,s as not many male mannequins were made then and most were disposed of.The pimp will never sell me as I am a constant reminder of a simpler time when fellows like me were rare.My naked girlfriend in front of me is from the same period and she is rented out often on period films.The plant was picked up from the dumpster in the Hazleton Lanes shipping area.Recycling is not difficult and humans only do so when forced to.On this Earth Day please promise to consider your environment once daily rather than once a year.You can also do that by buying"RECYCLED DISPLAYS" See you soon

NEW DESIGNERS MARKETPLACE OPENS

For the last few weeks new retailers have been frantically searching for special displays to equip their booths in the new Designers Marketplace in Woodbridge near Kipling on Hwy 7 beside Hakim Optical.There are no tube socks or rusty scraps here--this is a group of 40 mini retailers selling premium wares to sharp customers who know quality and what that costs.It is challenging to do all that in a small booth but these retailers are experienced and are shopping our showroom to buy unique displays that will attract buyers.This new market will open this Saturday and the kids in this pic will be shopping

MEASURE UP FOR THE MOVIES

Winter is over and the wardrobe depts in films need me.My size is always in demand and I,m needed soon to alter some actors costumes for a film about Amelia Earhart.Hopefully they will need my life partner in the warehouse for the female costumes.We will share a quiet moment tonight in the sewing room before I am shipped Wednesday downtown.The pimp never sells any of us as you can never have enough dressmakers forms but I overheard them ordering a container load of forms from China.Soon we will be able to sell as well as rent them in all sizes.A few girls are being packed to go to Saskatchewan tomorrow but cannot complain as they are headless girls on special for $125 ea.They know a bargain out west and saved enough to afford the freight charges.Another load of glass showcases arrive from a store reno so the loading dock will be busy.Hope the snow quits so the trucks can get in safely.Model form40M

All winter I have been swinging this club waiting for the snow to melt so I can get out and play but twice last week people from golf clubs have been in looking to remodel their Pro Shop.I am keeping my fingers crossed for the fellows from The Newcastle club as that is close to Bowmanville and we know what is opening there soon.My 2 sisters are hoping they are picked for the sex toy shop. When the front door is unlocked in the morning you never know who will walk in for mannequins or body parts.I have been in the showroom for months now but todays visitors were special.The GTA is expanding so now there is a need for a lingerie and sex toy store in Bowmanville.That should wake up the farmers .Later a couple came in to buy heads to test helmets for rock climbers and what happens to the heads after sudden impact.The mannequin pimp was thrilled and encouraged them to be thorough with their testing and buy more heads.At the end of the day shoppers were looking to outfit a martial arts store.All this excitement and the Easter Bunny.We will take Easter Sunday off to decide which stores we want to go to.I am volunteering for Bowmanville because I like toys.Phillipe

New inventory was being set-up when customers invaded and focused on these fellows from Belgium.A new designer is opening an outlet for the "petite man" and these guys are going to Yorkville.Last minute goodbyes are shared and perhaps a quiet Easter party will happen before the new store is ready to showcases these dudes.A truckload of bust forms has arrived today from a major retailer and the pimp is "giving" them away for $29 each.Recently a competitor explained the pimps prices by saying it takes no brains or skill to give displays away.If we charged more inventory would back up and there would be no room for the daily truckloads of new inventory.Happy Easter and any extra chocolate bunnies not consumed would be appreciated.

All winter more and more child mannequins have been arriving from many different retailers some of which are no longer selling kids clothes.Spring is here and time to get these little darlings out to work.The noise of their games is deafening and a big sale will bring the showroom back to normal.The pimp does not care.Two weeks ago he sold the only pregnant mannequin we had and was shipped off to a baby garden in Lindsay.We have had no news if she had the baby yet.There are some pregnant forms in stock but they are in the the main warehouse and are headless so we cannot hear them.Tomorrow we will tell you about the headless children cloth mannequins sale.We have 100,s of them from $29-$99each.The sunglasses on the kid were NOT stolen from an airport kiosk while on a school trip

St.Patricks day Dancers in the Green Room

Sunday was fabulous.The sunshine magnified by the snow outside is bringing thoughts of spring until the first customers enter the showroom looking for mannequins.These people make costumes in the Mas Camp for Caribana.Those elaborate costumes need us to model them until ready for the parade.We have a costume designer here but she works in the movies.Caribana is intense and exciting.All us want to jump-up and get out of here for the parade but only two of us were selected.Promises were made that our business cards would be handed out to the other designers so in the evening we are practicing our moves to be ready.Winter is definitely over

Many of us are used in film productions as set dressing and background props in adverts or film shoots.The mannequin pimp needs little encouragement to show off his vast inventory from various productions.A few years ago he furnished the entire mall displays in "Dawn of the Dead".The ladies in this pic were made in L.A. especially for "Pinky,s Hefty Hideaway in Hairspray".Now that the film is over they wanted to be actresses and were told to lose some weight so they lost their heads.HaHa-now they cant tell how much they weigh.You can be the proud owner of a unique film prop and new friend.Their stand has wheels so you could even dance the tango with her.While visiting you can shop for other great props and displays from many productions and other displays recycled from retail stores.Recently CTV bought CITY-TV and the retail store for MUCHMUSIC was closed and we have the store fixtures from this outlet.Lately the Pimp has forgotten his roots in clothing stores and working a lot on computer stores.They dont use mannequins but their counters are special . We are ready for our close-up

Many of us are still snoozing after the excitement on Sunday.Junior filmakers were here all day creating a 10 minute short for a advertising competition.And we were central to the story.The Mannequin pimp doesnt just make money renting and trading us now he is renting out our showroom and us to spice up the story.All day long during the filming the crew were giggling constantly as the scenes were completed and the results were better than expected.The actress in the story who falls for a male form called The Lounge Lizard was smokin HOT.She had to audition but none of us needed one.Our life is being on display .For 12 hours they took 3 hours of film but not because we are "bad actors".The Mannequin Pimp hopes we get discovered as this film will be shown in theatres soon.Perhaps someone else in advertising or film will recognize the need for our presence in their project.The film crew shot scenes of the store fixtures counters and hangers but they cant act.All that will probably end up on the cutting floor.The pimp has been promised some of the scenes to be added to his website.He will do anything to promote his little shop.To prove it he is disposing of the girls in this picture for $125 each.Guess without heads they cant act but clothes look great on them.The arms attach magnetically and I overheard him bragging about the strong base.P.S. Snowstorm means noone gets sold today

All of us are in awe of the furious snowstorm outside our showroom windows.The mannequin pimp is outside clearing the walkway in vain that a client may come and buy one of us.Wasting his energy as noone comes today.He could have washed the fingerprints off of those 11 bustforms just returned from the silent auction to benefit some charity last night.Instead he is getting to know his shovel.When he leaves we will celebrate our good luck and dream of the day when we are finally liberated from this warehouse of department store castoffs.It wasnt always this way.Mine name is Phillipe and I was fabricated in Belgium as the main character in a new line of Euro-Trash males destined for snooty clothing stores willing to pay $1400 for me and my brothers.For years I displayed the latest fashions in the main floor windows on Queen st. but recently I had been moved upstairs to the furniture dept because my looks faded.I didnt mind as the exposure was cracking my makeup.Then some junior windowdresser traded me for 2 track lights and a box of skirt hangers and now I am the property of the Mannequin Pimp.He posted my picture on the internet for $350 not realizing what I am really worth.I am to sick to go on --more laterP.
